This 3 day domestic insulation installer’s course allows all successful learners to register with SEI for the Home Energy Saving Scheme. It is aimed at anyone wishing to gain theory and practical training in the installation of domestic insulation. Insulation is one of the best ways to save money on fuel bills and reduce the carbon footprint for buildings.
Home Energy Savings Scheme
The Home Energy Saving Scheme provides €50 million assitance to 50,000 homeowners in 2009 who are interested in improving the energy efficiency of their home in order to reduce energy costs and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. It is a national scheme and open to all home owners. The HES is administered by Sustianable Energy Ireland (SEI). Grants available are as follows:

Day 1:
Standard Construction details and building configurations
Existing problem installations and 'what to look out for' case studies
Modern Insulation Types and their U-values
Building Regulations Part L, including intro. to BER
Day 2:
Dwelling Assessment for insulation and ventilation
Available grants and application procedures
Loft Insulation: Quilt insulation, electrical wiring, and good practice
Internal & External Wall insulation: Ventilation and good practice details
Condensation, Cold Bridging, Dry Lining
Day 3:
Health & Safety Considerations
Quality Control and Certification
Code of practice
Insurance and Indemnity
Assessment
Assessment
70% Theory + 30% Practical Demo - 1.5 Hours - 30 Short Answer Questions
SEI Registration
SEI will require that the contractor have relevant professional training.
On completion of the course, the contractor can apply for registration on SEI's
Register of Approved Contractors to take part in the Home Energy Scheme.
